A WAY IN discovering the connection between task and truth | Heidi Latsky Dance

In this workshop, Heidi Latsky Dancers, will guide participants through exercises from Heidi Latsky’s MARS (mindful activation release study) inclusive practice designed to enhance and deepen performance as a task-based experience. The warm-up will move into a structured improvisation that is the foundation of Latsky’s choreography ON DISPLAY. ON DISPLAY is a series of movement
installations that have been disrupting the urban landscape worldwide since 2015.  It is an art exhibit where the art is live-a sculpture court featuring performers ranging in age, disability, race, and size. This workshop will delve into the very essence of these installations, giving participants an opportunity to experience the techniques and intentions behind this work. @HeidiLatskyDance

“the underscore” - Finding Your Way Into Difference | Karen Peterson and Dancers

Based on Nancy Stark Smith’s the “underscore”, Karen Peterson and Dancers will take you on a journey that will allow you to deepen your connection, focus and physical sensation with yourself and with others. By exploring movement inside your skin, you will learn to release any tension into your support base as we rise and fall alone and with others. Touch, attraction and repulsion will be our guide through the different sensations of skin, muscles and bones. By concentrating on the ledges and crevices of the skeleton as a way to connect, support, release and take weight you will deepen your authentic self with fellow dancers.

This workshop provides new skills for a choreographer, dancer or teacher to develop movement directives for your students or to create choreography. KPD will offer adaptable ideas to expand your knowledge when you work in the field of dance. There is no right or wrong way, only an open mind of possibility. @karenpetersondancers

Workshop in Physically Integrated Dance | Kinetic Light

When disabled and non-disabled movers enter the space, what can we create together? Developing an inclusive environment, this workshop invites you to explore your body in different ways. Through collaborative movement creation, strategic interpretation of each other’s movement vocabularies and deep investigation into our own moving bodies, we will surface the rich creative forces of our bodies and minds. All are welcome to join Laurel Lawson and Alice Sheppard. @KineticLight
