KPD Presents a 28th Season of New Work at the Miami Light Box, May 4 and 5th at 8PM

"Warmamas: a Performance"

Choreographer Karen Peterson Corash will present a new full-length multi-media work, “Warmamas: A Performance,” for her physically integrated dance company KPD, in partnership with longtime collaborator video/visual artist Maria Lino. This timely work, inspired by the voices of mothers whose children have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, is a creative blend of powerful physical movement and moving video imagery.

Warmamas is an oral history project founded six years ago by Patricia Figueroa Sowers as a platform for all mothers to tell their stories and have them documented as an essential part of our country's history. All interviews are recorded and documented by Warmamas and housed at the University of Miami’s Otto Richter Library in the Story Corps/Warmamas Community Archive.

The World Premiere of “Warmamas: A Performance” will be held at the Miami Light Box, 404 NW 26th Street, in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, on Friday, May 4 and Saturday May 5, at 8 pm. Tickets are $20 and available at door and at www.karenpetersondancers.org. A complimentary reception will be held after Saturday’s performance.
