Forward Motion presents Workshops: “The Underscore” - Finding Your Way Into Difference by Karen Peterson and Dancers
Koubek Center – Miami Dade College, 2705 SW 3rd St, Miami, 33135 - Friday, September 27 | 3:15 pm – 4:15 pm
Based on Nancy Stark Smith’s the “underscore”, Karen Peterson and Dancers will take you on a journey that will allow you to deepen your connection, focus and physical sensation with yourself and with others. By exploring movement inside your skin, you will learn to release any tension into your support base as we rise and fall alone and with others. Touch, attraction and repulsion will be our guide through the different sensations of skin, muscles and bones. By concentrating on the ledges and crevices of the skeleton as a way to connect, support, release and take weight you will deepen your authentic self with fellow dancers. This workshop provides new skills for a choreographer, dancer or teacher to develop movement directives for your students or to create choreography. KPD will offer adaptable ideas to expand your knowledge when you work in the field of dance. There is no right or wrong way, only an open mind of possibility.
