Excello Dance Space
Located in the
South Dade/Falls/Kendall Neighborhood, Excello Dance
Space offers an intimate alternative dance venue for up-close and personal audience viewing. Unlike traditional theatrical
performing arts
centers, the
space creates a comfortable environment where the audience can engage in the spirit of
each performance. Excello, established in 2002, offers affordable rental and performance
opportunities to local dance artists. The space provides raised seating, professional sound and a
32 channel lighting / dimmer board for viewing contemporary work. Since 1989, Peterson and Dancers,
a non-profit service and presenting organization, has been dedicated to the development, education
and presentation of dance.
Since its opening, Excello has showcased over 25 different events, 50 performances featuring 400 dancers, 50 musicians, 100 youth dancers and 100 wheelchair dancers.
These ensembles have included
The Good for Something Dancers, the Gulliver Jazz Band, The Greater Miami Youth Symphony,
Revolutions Dance Company, Dancers Improv Group and Ultimatum.
In the summer of 2007, Excello moved to a larger location where the seating is more comfortable, the
dance space enlarged and the air conditioning updated. It is located ten steps from the former venue!
The Choreographers have included
Joanne Barrett, Elsa Valbuena, Dale Andree, Katherine Kramer, Letty Bassart, Carlota Pradera, Dean
Sweeney, Orazio Giurdanella, Bill Doolin, Heather Maloney, Gerda Konig, Elana Lanczi, Don
